The call for proposals for the JST Emergent Research Support Program for FY2026 is now open. The deadline for receipt of research proposals is Thursday, May 14, 2026 at noon (strictly enforced) at the following website:
*Please be sure to check that the panel PO and advisors have been renewed as the third Emergence Panel from this fiscal year (the parts where advisors are not yet public will be released in due course).
We will support researchers in the following ways to apply for and accept emergent projects. Please take advantage of it.
Support for Emergent Project Applicants
1. Provide Tips for Applicants
This section summarizes key points regarding the application form and interview based on the results of a questionnaire to emergent adopters and other information.
As a supplement, p. 19 also includes elements newly specified in the “Application Guidelines.

2. interview practice for applicants (to be accepted from 2026/6)
★[IMPORTANT] In order to allow for the selection of mock judges, those who wish to practice should apply as soon as they receive notification that their application has been approved. If the number of days between the application and the interview is short, there is a possibility that a mock jury member may not be selected.
Exercise content
Held online via Zoom meeting for about 40 minutes
- Presentation and Q with time allocation for the actual performance
- Comments by mock judges and others on points to be improved in the presentation
・Mock judges will be selected from TUAT faculty, emeritus professors and URAs with extensive experience in obtaining and reviewing external funds.

- Become a member of the Slack channel “#st-rdc-Research Support Information and Consultation Desk”
- Press the green button at the bottom, “Apply for Interview Practice,” to start the workflow, and follow the instructions to enter the required information.

3. Support for Adopters
In order to help accelerate the research of emergent candidates, various departments of the university provide the following research support.
For details on the details of the support, please contact the department in charge.
Support Details
- Up to 1,000 Supercomputer TSUBAME4.0 can be used at half the on-campus fee.
- Exemption from usage fees for research infrastructure provided by the Research Infrastructure Management Organization up to 150,000 yen/year
- *Only one of the following can be used, and cannot be used together. It is planned to expand sequentially in the future.
- Core Facility Center (CFC) usage fee waived up to 150,000 yen/year
- Bioscience Integration Support Facility (BIO) Usage fee waived up to 150,000 yen/year

- TSUBAME4.0 Support: Accepted from April TSUBAME points can be purchased until December 31 (use until the end of March)

- NOTE
- The content and eligibility of the support may be reviewed from year to year, taking into consideration the number of emergent researchers and other circumstances.
- For researchers in Phase 2 of Emergence, a separate JST support program, “Research Environment Improvement Support,” is planned; when JST notifies of the support, eligible researchers will be notified of the details individually.
