The Research and Development Organization provides support for a wide range of research activities, including the acquisition of external funding, international expansion of research, research publicity, and support for interdisciplinary integration. From this year, we also started supporting Visionary Initiatives and public relations.
We will pick up and introduce support from FY2025.

Started supporting Visionary Initiatives

Support for the Visionary Initiatives (VI), which was introduced throughout the university in April 2025, has begun. We conducted convergence research such as medical-engineering collaboration, support for the creation of joint research with overseas partner universities, and content production to introduce VI outside the university. We will continue to work with various support organizations to expand research support.

Unification of support desks for science and engineering and medical and dental departments to support external funding acquisition

Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research and other support for large-scale external funding have become common in science and engineering and medical and dental sciences. At the same time, we reviewed and expanded the content of support to meet various demands.

Strengthening Overseas English Press Releases

After the integration, we strengthened our overseas English press releases (to EurekAlert!), and this year’s number of calls was 150, which is the highest level in Japan. The overseas dissemination of press releases has led to requests for coverage and article publication from overseas media, and we have been able to disseminate the university’s research results more widely.

Holding events and renewal of platforms to support interdisciplinary integration

In October 2024, we held our first interdisciplinary integration event after the integration. At the event, 32 young researchers and doctoral students presented their research, and about 80 faculty, staff, and students participated, leading to active research exchanges.
In conjunction with the event, the platform for matching with researchers from various fields (formerly the Plum and Swallow Platform) has been renewed as the “Science Tokyo Crosspoint Platform”. Since the renewal, it has been used by many researchers.
