【Travel Award Announcement】WRH Program – FY2025-FY2026 Overseas Researcher Invitation

The WRH Program – Overseas Researcher Invitation provides funding and administrative assistance for inviting world-class researchers to Institute of Science Tokyo. The program is offered to encourage new international collaborations or deepening and expansion of existing collaborations, as well as to provide opportunities for early-career researchers and students to interact with prominent overseas researchers.

Applicant (Host Faculty) Eligibility

Institute of Science Tokyo faculty members
*Medical and dental faculty are eligible for Type 0 only.
*Assistant professors and specially appointed faculty must apply jointly with a regular faculty member of lecturer or above.

Invited Researcher Eligibility

Researcher employed by a research institution outside of Japan
*Persons who have not yet been awarded or only recently been awarded a degree are excluded from this requirement.

Invitation Categories

Type 0 (Initiating collaborations)
– Supports short-term invitations for researchers who you have not collaborated with before
– Single stay, approximately 1 week

Type I (New research collaborations / expanding existing collaborations)
– Supports multiple visits over two fiscal years
– 1 to 6 months combined length over two FYs (must visit at least once per FY)

Type II (Long-term stays)
– Supports long-term invitations
– Single stay, 2-12 months

Supported Expenses

In principle, round-trip flights and a stipend/wage during stay
