On January 16, 2026, the 7th InfoSyEnergy Open Symposium was held at the Kuramae Hall, Institute of Science Tokyo (Science Tokyo). Under the theme “Toward Energy, Healthcare, and New Industry Creation,” the symposium was organized by the InfoSyEnergy Education and Research Consortium and the Academy of Energy and Informatics, and co-hosted by Visionary Initiatives (VI): GX Frontier.

The symposium was chaired by Yoshisato Kimura, Principal Investigator (PI) of VI: GX Frontier, Vice Director or InfoSyEnergy Education and Research Consortium, and Professor in the School of Materials and Chemical Technology. Under his facilitation, lively discussions were held on the importance of integrated research that bridges engineering and medicine, as well as energy and information, from diverse perspectives.

In the activity report session, Professor Manabu Ihara, PI of VI: GX Frontier, Director of Academy of Energy and Informatics, and Professor in the School of Materials and Chemical Technology, presented the Consortium’s ongoing educational and research initiatives, along with its achievements in international collaboration. He highlighted the development of interdisciplinary research and education grounded in energy and information sciences.

In the lecture session, Professor Mika Goto, Program Director (PD) of VI: GX Frontier and Professor in the School of Environment and Society, introduced the overall framework of the six Visionary Initiatives and the role of GX Frontier, emphasizing the necessity of transdisciplinary research that transcends disciplinary and organizational boundaries. In addition, Masaaki Kitano, PI of VI: GX Frontier and Professor at the Institute of Integrated Research, presented his research on innovative solid catalysts for green ammonia synthesis, demonstrating how interdisciplinary collaboration can accelerate research progress and lead to social implementation.

The panel discussion brought together experts from economics, medicine, engineering, and business, who exchanged views on how research outcomes can be effectively translated into real-world applications.

Overall, the symposium aligned closely with the direction of integrated research promoted by the Visionary Initiatives, serving as a platform to explore the potential for collaboration aimed at co-creating new value with society through research and education.
