Professor Kei Sakaguchi, PD of the Innovative-Life Society, took the stage at the “Future of the Sea Conference @ Suruga Bay” (sponsored by the Marine Open Innovation Organization) held at the Shizuoka Convention Arts Center Granship in Shizuoka Prefecture on July 25~26, 2025.

The conference was held with the aim of developing a sustainable marine economy (blue economy) centered on Shizuoka Prefecture, and domestic and international initiatives, current status, and issues were shared. Our university is also participating in the “Suruga Bay and Marine DX Advanced Base Plan” promoted by Shizuoka Prefecture and Shizuoka City from the standpoint of the development of smart fisheries (efficient and sustainable fisheries through IoT and ICT).

At the event, Professor Sakaguchi introduced the “Suruga Bay Smart Ocean Project”, which is part of the plan. We reported the results that by combining the data of the fish school obtained by sonar with the data of the Daily Sea Conditions, it was possible to predict the actual catch.

The project is a project for the period 2024-2034 and will continue to contribute to the development of the smart fishery industry.
